Mindful Farm Tour with the Portland Food Co-op

  • Frith Farm 61 Ash Swamp Road Scarborough, ME, 04074 United States (map)

We’re partnering with the Portland Food Co-op to help our community cultivate a more intentional relationship with our food, the land it grows on, and the living beings that feed us.

The Portland Food Co-op prides itself in supporting over 200 local Maine farmers and producers. But what does eating local really mean? Join us at Frith Farm to meet owner Daniel Mays and his dedicated team and learn how they steward the land to grow the food that ends up on your plate.

Davinica Nemtzow, a Mindful Outdoor Guide and fellow member-owner, will guide you through a mindfulness practice in which we'll amble throughout the farm, engage all five of our senses, and nurture a deeper sense of belonging within ourselves and our co-op’s community.

No previous meditation experience is necessary, all are welcome!

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION

  • This event will be held rain or shine. If the event needs to be canceled due to dangerous weather or temperature, you will be informed the day before the event.

  • You will need appropriate shoes for walking on uneven ground and a trail seat, blanket, or towel to sit on.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE

Path: Our walk will be slow and meandering over a very short distance on wood chip and grass paths. Throughout the practice, there will be moments to rest.

Sensory Activities: Throughout the meditation, participants will be invited to explore the space using all five of their senses (hearing, sight, touch, smell, and taste). Part of our practice involves sitting still in silence for 15-20 minutes. Participation in any of these activities is not required and can be adapted with advanced notice.

Restrooms: There are no restrooms for this 2-hour event.
